About Yarrh Wines
Ours is a journey of interconnection, a winding road, over the creek, up through the stringy bark forest and onto the freedom of an open clearing.
Small parcels of fruit grow here, with healthy soil, clear air, brilliant sunshine and a natural approach, rewarding us with exquisite fruit. With our hands and a meticulous manner we create Yarrh Wines - Running Water.
Established in 1997, Yarrh Wines is located 45 minutes from Canberra and 10 minutes from the rural village of Murrumbateman, in the heart of the Canberra District. All wines are made from our own vineyard and bottled on site, in our beautiful rammed earth and straw bale winery, nestled into a hill and providing spectacular panoramic views of the vineyard and the Yass River Valley.
We make a range of red and white wines that are authentic expressions of our vineyard, their variety and their vintage. Sustainable practices such as composting, mulching and limiting the use of artificial inputs creates wines of great character.
Critical acclaim (4.5 star winery, James Halliday, 2016) is important, but so is the joy we are able to bring to our everyday customers.
A New Era at Yarrh
We have some bittersweet news...
The time has come for Fiona and I to step back from the everyday operations of Yarrh. It has been an incredible journey over 27 years that we will forever cherish, from planting the vineyard and building the winery to delighting our customers with beautiful wines. However, our backs are sore and it is now time to let the next generation take over.
We are so excited to welcome Caleb and Jessica as Yarrh's new operators, from 1 January 2025. With years of grape growing and winemaking experience under their belt, we know they are the perfect pair to take over the brans, along with their beautiful young family. With a promise (and drive) to maintain the very same farming practices, philosophies and quality we have spent years building at Yarrh, we are sure they are going to continue our legacy with pride.
Rest assured, we'll still be lurking in the background, providing support and input where and when we're needed, especially as we transition to a new era.
For now it's farewell from us and we look forward to enjoying a glass of wine with you over the next few weeks as our time running Yarrh comes to a close.
With love and fond memories.
Neil and Fiona
